Q: Does the Living Greyhawk Journal count as campaign documentation for Living Greyhawk, allowing me to use Living Greyhawk Journal rules options without further campaign documentation?
A: No.
While many of the Living Greyhawk Journal rules options are still available within Living Greyhawk, the articles themselves do not count as campaign documentation authorizing their use. You need an adventure record, metacampaign document, entry in the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook, or similar campaign documentation to use such rules options within Living Greyhawk.

Q: Is the Features of the Griffon.s Nest section of article usable in Living Greyhawk without further campaign documentation?
A: Yes.
The Living Greyhawk FAQ section, included in the article, explains how to use the article in the campaign . You must have the article with you at the game to take advantage of the options included, but you do not need any further campaign documentation.

Q: How do I determine if I am .living. somewhere for determination of my home region? If I am stationed or otherwise working overseas for a fixed period of time, am I living there?
A: There is no fixed formula for determining whether someone is currently living in a location. A common sense approach should adequately guide most, if not all, cases. Obviously, you cannot take advantage of both your home and overseas address at the same time.

Q: Can a dragon disciple worship a draconic deity?
A: Yes.

Q: Can a GM of an online game email adventure records to players?
A: Yes.
As long as all required information is on the adventure record, it is signed, and all of the GM.s information is legible, the adventure record can be emailed.

Q: Does an everburning torch or the spell continual flame allow clerics of Vatun to prepare spells?
A: No.
Continual flame does not produce an actual flame; it produces a light that looks like a flame. You will need an actual flame to prepare spells.

Q: Can a PC commit suicide?
A: Yes.
This is primarily asked in reference to reincarnate and repeated attempts to die and come back as a more desirable race. You can commit suicide, but any result that would make the PC an NPC happens immediately; you cannot be reincarnated as an NPC race and commit suicide to try again.

Q: If I cast a spell with an XP component, then die, how do I handle the XP cost?
A: Apply the cost as it happened in game time. If you die after paying the XP cost, you do not need to subtract the XP cost from your new total upon being raised.

Q: How does skill retraining work? How do I determine my maximum ranks?
A: In Living Greyhawk, retraining is considered step 1.5 in the leveling process. Your maximum ranks are capped by your old level, as you have not yet gained the benefit of increased ranks of the new level. If you are leveling from 5th to 6th level, your maximum ranks during retraining are 8.
Source: Article on WotC RPGA site, "Dispel Confusion Vol. 3, No. 4", July 3rd, 2007
Q: Can I use retraining to qualify for a prestige class I am taking as my next level?
A: No.
You must choose your class as the first step in leveling. You cannot choose a class without qualifying for it; you must qualify for a prestige class before retraining to be able to take a level in that prestige class as your next level.

My understanding is the favor has to name specific spells, or it's not valid.
All of the reasons people have mentioned are support for the DC. If a favor lists a subset, but not specific spells, you should contact the issuing authority to see if it's valid; that's the in between case. If it lists specific spells, it is definitely valid. If it just says 'all limited', it is definitely invalid. In this case, I'm not sure if Creighton is OK with the favor as is or wants to look at each spell. I am inclined to think it is valid as is, but Creighton should be contacted to be sure.

If I gained regional access to something from say Complete
Adventurer, and the item appears for much less in MIC, when will I be
allowed to purchase the item for the lower cost?
When we get a comprehensive conversion document in place. Until then,
you pay the price that matches the book your access references. It's
odd, but that's what we're going with.
If I buy the item for the higher cost, will I get a refund?
Very, very likely, yes.

I had always assumed that when the LGCS referred to "round to the nearest whole number," the 'standard' rule of .5 being rounded up would apply. However, it has been pointed out to me by other judges that what to do with a clean .5 is handled differently by different mathermatical and statistical conventions (such as round to even, etc.), and as such, it's up to the judge to determine the best way to round a X.5 table APL.
So, what actually happens to .5s in LG?
Round up at .5.
Source: Living Greyhawk Message #90669, February 14th, 2007
Does the HL campaign also switch to the 597 LGCS?
No, it is based off of the 596 LGCS until the HL document is updated. Which won't be until after DDXP because I haven't been able to get an editable version of it yet so it can be updated.

So, does a character creation card take a permanent slot for a character? And I assume like other documentation it needs to be with you when you play the character or you can not play him?
If you were not using the card, the race would not be Open for you and your character would be illegal. So, yes, you must have and use the card when playing that character.
Source: Wizards.com Community Boards, March 27th, 2007
Are these cards pre-approved (as they have 'Living Greyhawk' on them)? Or are they not usable until the Circle issues a DC about them?
The Circle wrote the LG cards, so they are already approved by us. You can use them as soon as you get them.

Q: If I have Power Attack and Cleave, can I retrain my Power Attack feat for some other feat, losing the benefit of Cleave?
A: No.
In the final version of a retrained character, all prerequisites for feats and other options must be satisfied (as if the retrained character had advanced normally).

Q: What exactly is an "enhancement" for weapons and armor?
A: Enhancement refers strictly to the number bonus on weapons and armor. Other abilities, such as flaming or slick, are called Special Abilities.
Q: Can I upgrade a standard item into a nonstandard item?
A: Not without campaign documentation.
This was an oversight in the formulation of the rule in the LGCS. Without campaign documentation, the limit to standard items on upgrading applies both to the before and after item.
Q: Can I add light fortification to my bracers of armor?
A: Not without campaign documentation.
Bracers of armor are wondrous items, not armor. The core rules for crafting armor and wondrous items do not allow for the addition of armor enchantments to wondrous items. The rules for adding Special Abilities to bracers of armor are a sidebar entry in Arms & Equipment Guide (AEG) This means that it is a rule from a non-core book, it is not from a v.3.5 book, and it is a sidebar entry. Those are three strikes against it being used in Living Greyhawk. As such, you need very specific access to be able to use those rules. Here is how this translates into the LG crafting rules:
- Using the rules does not make the bracers nonstandard. They are still eligible for upgrades, assuming the upgrade is legal.
- A crafter would need access to use the rules in AEG and access to the upgrade they want to add to their bracers.
- A non-crafter would need access to use the rules in AEG and access to purchase an upgraded version of the bracers they currently own.
- A crafter can upgrade the armor bonus on bracers that have previously used this favor, as long as the item is still standard.
- A non-crafter would have to find specific access to bracers of X+Y and Z to be able to upgrade their bracers of X and Z.
Q: Can I upgrade my +2 holy adamantine pick to +3 without extra documentation?
A: Yes.
As long as it is still a standard item, you can upgrade the enhancement bonus of the pick. The distinction here is that the enhancement bonus is Open; it is not something you are gaining access to via a found item. Since the bonus itself is Open, you need only have a standard item to be able to upgrade the enhancement bonus.
Q: Does it matter for upgrading what material my weapon is made of?
A: Yes, for a non-crafter. No for a crafter.
If you are hiring an NPC to upgrade something other than an enhancement bonus, you must find access to purchase an upgraded version of the lesser item. According to the LGCS, "If the difference between two magic items is merely an improvement in the basic abilities of the item, it is considered an upgrade." If you have a +1 adamantine longsword and find a +1 holy longsword (steel by implication), there is more of a difference between the two magic items than "merely an improvement in the basic abilities of the item." This precludes hiring an NPC to upgrade your +1 adamantine longsword with holy. The same restrictions would apply to composite longbows with different Strength bonuses.

Q: Can a centaur wear boots?
A: No.
Centaurs do not have the anatomy necessary to wear boots, sandals, slippers, or other humanoid footwear; however, they can wear any gear intended for equines, such as horseshoes.

Q: Can I use two copies of the Hero.s Strike card in one adventure?
A: Yes.
The LGCS says that, "No button or card may be used more than once in any adventure, regardless of the number of rounds." This is a limit on physical buttons or cards, not on types of buttons or cards.

Q: Can I spend overcap gp before I get it?
A: No.
Gold pieces in an adventure that is over the cap can only be spent after the gp has been received. If you spend money before you get the gp, it comes out of your personal gp. If you spend money after receiving gp in the adventure, but before surpassing the cap, you risk not finding enough gp to exceed the cap and receiving less gp than the cap at the end of the adventure.

Q: Can I use a bracelet of friends to summon an NPC?
A: No.
You must have campaign documentation to be able to attune one of the charms to an NPC.

Q: How do I use favors that grant access to a Limited rules option of my choice? Does this give me access to anything from any book that is not specifically restricted?
A: All such favors are immediately void until an errata is issued. If you have used such a favor, you must check with the issuing triad to see if an errata has been issued. If such errata exists, you must change your selection to conform to the errata. If you have not used such a favor, you may not do so until an errata has been issued.
These favors assumed the existence of a specific list of Limited items, which has not existed for quite some time. A liberal interpretation of these favors granted far more access than was intended by the circle. Some people have used these favors to gain access to rules options that were never intended to be allowed in the campaign.

The Centaur description as listed in the Bright Sands source book states that centaurs are proficient with "scimitars", not "scimitar" as the Druid entry in the PHB states. Does this mean that Centaurs are proficient with all weapons whose name contains the word "scimitar" such as "great scimitar" with out having to take the exotic weapon prof feat?
From Creighton:
"The intent was for scimitar not scimitars."

1. level 10 druid takes natural bond and a level 10 critter (say polar bear) 2. natural bond cannot take your EDL above character level so if you have a base critter natural bond does nothing 3. however for stat boost purposes in the sidebar of teh PHB the EDL of a polar bear is " 1" (10-9)4. therefore it appears possible the natural bond will allow the bear to get EDL level 4 stats even though the original EDL is the same as caster level
No. You can't use Natural Bond to get an animal companion that would normally require a druid with more levels than you have HD.

Q: Is casting a spell with the [Evil] descriptor an evil act? If so, can I cast these spells?
A: The Players Handbook is unclear on this issue, and it has led to much debate. Fortunately, the Book of Vile Darkness, the authoritative source on evil deeds, provides insight into this topic. Page 8 of this source lists casting evil spells as an evil act while page 77 indicates that spells with the evil descriptor are evil spells. While the Book of Vile Darkness is not an a player resource in the Living Greyhawk campaign, these statements provide a fairly definitive statement that casting spells with the evil descriptor is an evil act.
That said, the Book of Vile Darkness goes on to say "[s]ometimes, a nonevil spellcaster can get away with casting a few evil spells, as long as he or she does not do so for an evil purpose. But the path of evil magic leads quickly to corruption and destruction." Player characters cannot have an evil alignment in the Living Greyhawk campaign, but occasional evil acts are not forbidden. Your PC can cast an [Evil] spell without necessarily becoming evil; however, we urge casters of evil spells not to cross over into true corruption, or one day you will be turned over to your Triad, and on that day you may become an NPC.

Q: I have bonuses from multiple metaorgs to the same skills. Do these bonuses stack?
A: As Circumstance bonuses (all metaorg skill bonuses are Circumstance bonuses), they will only stack if they result from different circumstances. While there could be endless debate about the exact circumstance that elicits a particular metaorg benefit, they are essentially all bonuses derived from the circumstance of being a member of a metaorganization and, hence, do not stack. Allowing otherwise would create immeasurable headaches for both GMs and metaorganization coordinators and lead to abuse of the system.

Q: The rules for MIC allow scrolls to be used while crafting. Can a wand be used?
A: Yes, you may use a wand as well. You must use one charge from the wand per day of crafting the item.

Q: When a PC is crafting up to five items with a total value less than or equal to 5,000 gp, is this the total limit or is it the equivalent of five "days" with a 1,000 gp limit each? In other words, would the following item crafting be legal, or would each 5th-level scroll take two "days" out of the five assumed? 2 x scroll of teleport (9th level caster) (1,125 gp each) = 2,250 gp; 3 x scroll of dimension Door (7th level caster) (700 gp each) = 2,100 gp
A: The LGCS states that "[y]ou may create, at most, one magic item with a market value worth no more than 1,000 gp per day." In the above example, crafting all five items within five days would require you to craft more than one item per day. As such, the above example would not be possible within five days. If an item costs 1,001 gp, you would need to work for two days and the extra time on the second day is lost.

[ed. Some versions of the Second Wind card do not have this text. "If you're playing a game that doesn't use action points, spend this card and roll a d6 when your character is unconscious. Your character stabilizes and heals as many hit points as you rollen on the d6."]
Since both versions of Second Wind are identical, other than the text that says you don't need an action point, you can use either one; there's nothing mechanically different in the usage of either version.

Q: I have access to mithral full plate. Does that mean I can buy mithral full plate barding for my horse?
A: No; barding is not exactly the same as normal armor. Barding is armor made for mounts and entails special rules (PH 131). Similarly, all armor found on adventure records is assumed to be of the humanoid variety, unless specified otherwise. All animals (even apes) require nonhumanoid armor, which costs double the price of humanoid armor (PH 123). To buy special nonhumanoid armor, barding or otherwise, you would need a liberally worded favor, such as .access to one suit of armor,. or an explicit entry on an adventure record. Centaurs are an exception to this rule, per the Blight on Bright Sands Sourcebook.

Q: My paladin was dominated and forced to commit evil acts. The DM took away my paladinhood. Can I have an NPC cast atonement for me?
A: Yes. Add (Atonement; Caster Level 9th; Cost 450) to Table 6-3: Spell Costs in the Living Greyhawk Campaign Sourcebook. Only castings of this spell that do not require XP expenditure are available in this way. For all other uses of atonement, you must contact your local triad.

The mod includes material that is specifically restricted in LG. The adaptation does not remove this. I'll be making an inquiry as to how to handle that.
Adaptations will occasionally include material we normally restrict in LG. If we don't explicitly remove them in the adaptation, then use them as they appear, despite their restricted status in the LGCS.

Q: If I find a spell in a spellbook, on a scroll, or in some other written form, do I have access to it?
A: If you find a spell on your spell list in a written item, once you purchase that item, you now have access to the spell. For example, if a sorcerer finds and purchases a spellbook with the spell snake's swiftness in it, he may choose to learn the spell at his next available and valid opportunity. If there.s any question as to whether the spell is actually written on or in the purchasable item, it is not valid for this type of access. Valid examples include scrolls, spellbooks, tablets, and notes.
Q: I have a bard character. If I find a spellbook that contains sorcerer/wizard spells, and some of them are bard spells as well, does purchasing the spellbook give me access to those spells?
A: Yes. Even though you may not be able to cast the spells from the spellbook, as long as the spells are legible to the character, you have access to the spells that appear on that classes' list.
Q: I understand now that I can get access to spells from written items. What happens if I lose the item, sell the item, or it is destroyed?
A: It depends on the spellcasting character's class. Wizards and other spellcasters that prepare spells from a spellbook lose access to the spell, unless the spell has already been scribed into another written source, such as a spellbook. Clerics, druids, and other divine casters that prepare from a list do not lose access — once they've found and purchased the item, it is considered a known spell for purposes of preparing spells. Sorcerers, bards, and other arcane casters that spontaneously cast spells must have already added the spell to their list of spells known in order to continue to use the spell; otherwise, they lose access, and cannot add the spell unless they find access again.
Q: If I find a spellbook that has a spell that I want, do I need to purchase the whole spellbook to obtain access?
A: Yes. Any written items (spellbooks, scrolls, etc.) must be purchased at the full cost in order to obtain access to any spells or other options present in them.

There's an apparent contradiction in the Dispel Confusion rules about this spell.
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=lg/lgif/20060119a
(1) "Warmages and hexblades did not see any level alterations of their spells."
(2) "Spells that have changed levels, or have been added or removed from spell lists: ... Blades of fire (2nd to 1st)"
So, did Blades of Fire change from 2nd to 1st for Warmages?
It was 2nd in Complete Arcane. Spell Compendium does not list any Warmage spells specifically.
Warmages and hexblades have no level alterations to their spells; if it appears at a certain level on the warmage's or hexblade's spell list, it is still at that spell level, even if it changed for other classes.
Source: LGDMs Message #9436, January 22nd, 2006
And since this Dispel Confusion article applies to PCs, the implication is that it should apply to NPCs as well. That implication imposes a pretty big burden on DMs. Apparently, we'll need to go through every NPC spell list to see if there are any non-PH spells, since almost all non-PH spells are listed in the SC and most of them are candidates for replacement.
No. Don't change the adventures. If something needs to be changed, the Triads/Circle will release an errata. Otherwise, you run it as it is written. Anything non-core is already included in the Appendices/DM Aids at the end of the adventure in the form that the adventure intended it to be written. So don't alter treasure, NPCs, etc. unless directed to.

My cleric character has Scribe Scroll and made a scroll of one of the spells on the "changed level" list. Since its level has been reduced, do I get gold and xp back as if I made it at the new level?
Yes. If a spell changed level, and the new level is greater than the old level, you can keep any scrolls/potions/wands made by paying the crafting difference in XP and gp.
If a spell's new level is less than the old level, you receive a refund in XP and gp equal to the crafting difference.

Unless you get an AR that says you can take a War Camel as an animal companion, you cannot do so. Animal companions are normally not war-trained.
Source: Wizards.com Community Boards, September, 27th, 2005
I just started a Brightsands character as a Badlands Dwarf Druid. In Sandstorm, my choices of animal companions includes Camel. There are three types of Camels availible in Sandstorm: Dromedary, Two Humped and War.
The DM's at the convention were mixed in there beleifs as to whether I could have a War Camel as an Animal Companion. It was decided by one that if I purchased it from the Sandstorm list of mounts, that I could then use it as an animal companion.
The next few DM's all allowed it, although some of them were unsure about it. I would like to get this clarified as I don't wish to have some later DM say that this is not permited.
There are no camels in the bright lands. thus you have to choose a different animal companion from the standard list. Of course if you find on an AR a different animal that can be used as an animal companion you can use that but no camels.

He points to the section in the sands document that says:
"A character progressing in a monster class gains feats and ability score increases according to Table 2-5 of the Player's handbook. That table also limits their maximum ranks in class and cross-classed skills"
First of all, there is no 2-5, so I'm assuming they mean 3-2. And if that's the case, then they would get feats as first, third, 6th, in addition to the ones they get from class levels (1,4).
Is this the case? Are they really supposed to get feats at 1,1,3,4,6? That seems to go against the LA rules and common sense. But, I can see why he'd argue it. The game is tonight and would love either an official ruling, or a link to an official ruling, or barring that, random interpretations from the peanut gallery.
See page 99 of Races of the Wild, entry about feats. Centaur monster class gives feats at levels 1 and 4 only ... then they advance in feats as per table 3-2.

I see this on LGCS 4.2, page 34:
===
The following rules apply to added HD to any creature
that might be brought along on an adventure as well as
items they are allowed to wear. DMs are allowed to make
exceptions in certain situations.
[...]
- They gain 1 feat per 3 Hit Dice as anyone else. These
feats can only be taken from the PHB or the MM. All
prerequisites apply. Additionally, the animal may not
qualify for all of the MM feats. All of these feats are core
for the creature.
- Unless the AR says otherwise, they do not gain feats
from any other source. Most ARs say, "You may gain a
feat from source X." not "You or your companion."
===
That seems to be contradicted by LGCS 4.2, p. 25:
===
NPC ONLY FEATS:
- The following feats are Core for
animal companions, familiars, paladin
mounts, and/or special cohorts. They
are NPC Only for all others.
===
So, Tim, which is it? Are our animal companion feats limited to PH/MM only or can we use the expanded list on page 25?
For example, my druid just hit level 6, so his 2 HD wolf has now advanced to 6 HD. He gets a new feat at 3 and 6 HD. Can I select Dive for Cover and Improved Toughness?
And while I'm asking pesky questions, can I change out the wolf's two original feats (Track and Weapon Focus)?
you can't change the feats out of the animal.
yes your animal can use those feats if the qualify. its not saying they can't at taht point its more or less saying in addition too.

This was in response to a thread on whether a PC can purchase a "Tool, Masterwork" from the PHB that gives a +2 circumstance bonus to any skill the player chooses.
To stifle this thread, the DM has ultimate say in what constitutes as "the perfect tool for the job" with regards to masterwork tool sets.
If the DM says it's OK, you get the bonus. If not, you don't.
Personally, I think it's just easier to err on the side of caution, and only purchase those tools sets that are listed in the PHB or other approved sources.

If I have a standard magic item such as a +1 Longsword that becomes intelligent through the course of play, may I upgrade the Longsword as if it were a standard item?
Unless the text on the AR that grants intelligence to the magic item

Spells: Able to cast at least one divine spell from one of the following domains' spell lists: Destruction, Protection, Strength, or War. A character who can cast at least one spell from a domain counts as having access for this purpose.
I interpret the text as follows. To qualify for this PrC, you must:
- Have access to one of those four domains - either selected one
as a starting domain or was granted one via a pclass.
- Be of sufficient level/stats to cast a spell from that domain.
- Able to cast the spell from that domain as a divine spell.
Don't take the PrC if you don't meet the above requirements as I
expect clarifications from WotC down the road will verify my above
interpretation.

Living Greyhawk uses the DnD FAQ. Therefore the clarification of
pricing of cold iron items in the most recent DnD FAQ applies to
Living Greyhawk. If you have previously paid the wrong price for a
cold iron item (based on the current explanation of their pricing in
the DnD FAQ), you need to correct the error on your next AR. If you
cannot afford the new price, you may remove the item for a complete
refund of its price on your AR.

After reading some of the posts, I'm wondering whether the cold
iron weapon I bought should cost an extra 2000 gp or not. Basically I had an
opportunity to buy a bane weapon through an upgrade. I did not have a weapon
that I wanted to add the bane enhancement to, so I had it added to a brand new
+1 cold iron that I bought on the same AR. Did I commission the sword from the same source that agreed to provide the bane upgrade or did I have to go somewhere entirely different, buy a +1 cold iron weapon, bring it back to the person offering the enhancement and have to have it enchanted a second time?
If you do it all on one AR, it counts as one set of enchantments, no
matter the source for the enchantments you use on that AR.

1. Message 7609, 7634: Can someone use the "Use Magic Device" skill
to create an object with either the "Create Wondrous Item" or "Craft
Wand" feats? The "Use Magic Device" skill is used to activate a
scroll of a spell not found on the creator's spell list. The
activation of the scroll is used to create a magical item. The item
in question was a wand of Entangle that was to be created by an
arcane spell caster.
You can't create a wand or scroll of spell you don't already know (as
per the MIC rules in the LGCS). If you have the CWI feat, you can
use UMD to activate a scroll to meet the creation pre-reqs, but you
need one scroll of each spell for each day the creation takes (and
need to make a check for every one of those scrolls)
2. Messages 7621, 7634: Is there an LG ruling that scrolls can be
used to create magical items, wands, rings, etc ? If so where can it
be found ?
The DMG permits the use of scrolls to meet spell pre-reqs in MIC (see
that section of the DMG). However, LG bans MIC of wands and scrolls
without having the spell already. But it is allowed for other MIC.
3. Message 7624: One purchases 50 scrolls and attempts to use
the "Use Magic Device" skill 50 times to make a wand of something not
on their spell list. What are the consequences of failing a "Use
Magic Device" skill check ?
See the PH; the rules are clearly there. If you get a mishap, the
scroll is wasted.
4. Messages 7629, 7630: If one has access to an item like a Vest of
Resistance, +4 (via meta-orgs or AR's), can they make the less
powerful versions of the item ? For example a Vest of Resistance, +3 ?
No.

Q: If I level during Red Hand of Doom, would retraining prevent me from borrowing time units from 598 CY?
A: No.
Retraining does not prevent you from borrowing time units from 598 CY, though all other requirements for borrowing time units for Red Hand of Doom still apply.

Q: Can I make the giant owl, which you gain access to during the adventure, my paladin.s special mount? How about a special cohort?
A: During the adventure, no. If you complete the adventure and successfully gain the giant owl permanently, as per the text on the adventure record, then yes, you can take the giant owl as your paladin.s special mount (as per the unusual mounts rules in the Dungeon Master.s Guide) or as your PC.s special cohort (as per the special cohort rules in the Dungeon Master.s Guide, advances by HD only, ECL of 6th). The alignment of the giant owl can be LG, NG, CG, or N. If you take it as your paladin.s special mount, the rules for paladin.s mounts (instead of mounts) applies in terms of using it at the table; likewise, if you take it as your special cohort, the cohort rules apply (instead of the mount rules).
Q: I have a player who is going to participate in a regional playtest. The problem is, not long before the game premieres, he is going to start playing Red Hand of Doom, and he is planning to use the 2008 borrow option. As I understand that option, you can.t play other adventures in the middle of the playing of Red Hand of Doom. Can my player participate in the playtest, even though he will receive the adventure record during the play of Red Hand of Doom?
A: Yes. The adventure is officially played at the time of the playtest. It is just the rewards that are effective at the time of the adventure.s release. This does not violate the 2008 borrow option rules.
Q: Can I play other adventures in between the parts of Red Hand of Doom?
A: If you are using the 2008 borrow option rules, no. Otherwise, yes you can (although we recommend against it for the sake of story continuity). In either case, you can use other options (besides playing adventures) which cost Time Units during the play of Red Hand of Doom (such as metaorganization costs, retraining, magic item creation, etc.); this is one of the reasons we included the 2008 borrow option rules.
Q: In what ways is Red Hand of Doom considered a core adventure?
A: You should treat Red Hand of Doom as a core adventure for the purposes of crafting items, buying items to which you have core access, resolving curses and other effects, and bringing along a cohort.
Q: Does each part of Red Hand of Doom count as a single adventure or are all five Parts considered just one single adventure?
A: You should count each part of Red Hand of Doom as a single adventure for the purposes of rules and effects that are determined by numbers of adventures. Furthermore, each adventure record for the individual Parts of Red Hand of Doom should be counted in the same manner.
Q: There are NPCs in Red Hand of Doom that have closed prestige classes. How is this possible?
A: First, Closed rules items designate that PCs can not use them, not that NPCs cannot. Second, we tried to stay as true to the original with regards to Red Hand of Doom so we did not make changes to rules items like prestige classes even if they were closed with regards to Living Greyhawk.
Q: The adventure record for part four lists a reward where you can choose three of the following from a list with four categories and several choices under each category. Do I select three categories (getting all the choices under them) or three choices?
A: You select three choices only. The categories are there merely to organize the list of choices from which you select 3.
Q: For the Favor of Lord Jarmaath, do I need to select all of the items to list at one time, or can I continue to list items here until I reach the 20,000 gp limit?
A: You need to select all of the items at the same time. When you receive the adventure record with that favor, you should think about what items you want to list. By the end of the entire adventure of Red Hand of Doom, you should fill in the blanks for this favor with all of your selections. The frequency of any items listed in these blanks is Any so you are not limited to buying one of these items nor are you prohibited from going back and buying another one of these items later.
Q: Are you still collecting results from the adventure (the deadline in the adventure says 12/31/2006)?
A: No, we are not still collecting results. We.re proud to announce that the official result for the campaign is TOTAL VICTORY! Nearly all tables reported had 70 or more Victory Points, and all of them had at least 60 Victory Points. Since the official result determines the value of certain adventure record rewards, we had to wait to determine this official result before posting the details of these rewards (see below).
Q: My PC received the Deed to Vraath Keep. Can I have more information on the deed and any benefits of possessing it?
A: See the downloadable record for Vraath Keep below.
Q: My PC received the Thanks of the March of Sterich. Can I have more information on the benefits of this?
A: The permits provided by this reward are detailed in the AR downloads available from the side bar on the right. Each higher victory point total grants the permit listed and those for lower victory point totals. The titles provided by this reward currently provide the bearer with a circumstance bonus to Charisma-based checks as detailed below. Additional benefits for titles may become available in the future.
| Victory Points | Title | Benefit | Permit |
| less than 40 | None | None | Mittleberg Residence |
| 40 to 59 | Lord or Lady of Mittleberg | +1 (+2 in Mittleberg) | Mittleberg Structure |
| 60 to 69 | Knight of Sterich | +1 (+2 in Sterich) | Sterich Border Tower |
| 70 or more | Baronet or Baronetess of Sterich | +2 (+3 in Sterich) | Sterich Baronetcy Residence |

Q: In Red Hand of Doom, how do we calculate the amount of time that has passed if there are different players present in different parts of the adventure?
A: On each adventure record for Red Hand of Doom, the DM should note how much time has passed. For future parts of the adventure, use the average time elapsed between all party members. For example, if three party members took seventeen days to complete the previous parts, while the other three party members took nineteen days, assume eighteen days have passed.

The scenario ADP6-01 "Fane of the Drow" makes certain opportunities available to characters who can "read Drow" (I don't think mentioning that there's drow stuff involved in the scenario counts as /too/ much of a spoiler, given its title <grin>). However, outside of this scenario I've never seen reference to any such spoken or written language; according to the Monster Manual drow elves speak Common, Elven & Undercommon as standard, with Drow Sign Language available as a bonus language (but extremely unlikely to have a written form). Thus Drow is presumably a dialect of Elven, and anyone able to read Elven should also be able to read Drow?
Undercommon is what it means. Eberron has a separate Drow language, I
think, but not LG.

The Adventure Record gives access to the spell nightshield, which is restricted in the Living Greyhawk campaign. Effective immediately, this should instead be replaced with the spell ectoplasmic armor. This spell is found in the Spell Compendium, pages 77-78. In a short time, the adventure record will be corrected to incorporate this errata.

On the Shards of Pure Ice certificate for the Core special Hanging Glacier, it states that "When you use a shard of pure ice to make a potion ...". Does this mean that you need the "Brew Potion" feat in order to utilize this item? I was told at the table that this applied to potions purchased, but the actual text seems to contradict this.
CB>You can apply this to potions you purchase - in effect you are giving the shard to the potion maker who then uses in the potion-making process.

The information below refers to the "Honoury Blader" AR favour possibly won in COR4-14 Sympathy of the Baatezu.
It has come to my attention that some people have interpreted this favour to mean that the smite ability can be used with any weapon. This is incorrect. As he is the god of swords, Kelanen's followers are mandated to favour a sword in combat. The smite ability is only usable with a sword or dagger. For more information regards acceptable weapons for followers of Kelanen refer to the Living Greyhawk Deities Document.
Additionally, if a character with this favour normally uses another kind of melee weapon in preference to a sword he will be excommunicated from the sect. (In this instance the DM should score through the favour and write "excommunicated" from the Lord of Swords' sect in the play notes section of both COR4-14 Sympathy of the Baatezu and the adventure in which the excommunication took place).

Q: I played the high-level portion of the special event CORS5-03 Secrets of Tsojcanth at Gen Con Indy. I heard there was a mistake on the adventure record. Is this so?
A: Yes. The specific spells listed on that adventure record were a copy of the mid-level's spells. If you played the high-level portion of the Living Greyhawk special at this year's Gen Con Indy, the Gnome Vale gemstone should read the following after its description:
Blue gemstone: greater invisibility 1/day; green gemstone: haste 1/day; yellow gemstone: protection from energy 1/day.
If you play this adventure at any of the extended premiere sites, the adventure record will have the correct information listed, and you do not make any alterations. Only players of the high-level portion at Gen Con Indy need to note this change. For the gemstone you had imbued, write its spell directly on your adventure record, in the Play Notes section.

The AR for COR5-13 The Price of Power has an error on it. It lists:
APL 12 1575 xp
APL 14 1575 xp
APL 14 is usually 1800 xp.
Can Creighton confirm that this is indeed an error?
Also, what should we do to fix it if there are ARs after it?
This is a typo - just have the DM initial the error and input the correct XP

This favour does not grant access to any item. This favour allows you to purchase items which you already have access to at a slightly lower price. Individuals who have purchased an item to which they do not have access must sell back the item on their next AR.
This favour works with any access type [Any, Core, Adventure, Metaregional and Regional] and can be used in conjunction with any AR [Core, Core Special, Regional or Metaregional]. This favour also allows you to purchase unique items that you have access to from ARs your character has.
This favour does not grant access to any item you fancy.

The answers below are in regards to the Stigma of the Serpent AR entry. The clarifications are:
- The AR should state that, regarding the Stigma of the Serpent, the -2 on checks to channel positive energy and +2 on checks to channel negative energy last for the next mod only, not indefinitely. Thus it is just like the dazzled in daylight penalties that last for 1 mod as well.
- The AR should state that, regarding the Stigma of the Serpent, a character cannot gain a +1 inherent bonus to an attribute and then gain the -1 inherent penalty to the same attribute. Roll again for the bonus if this happens.

It is possible that during this module PCs could have got access to the Stigma of the Serpent AR entry. This AR entry could bestow an +1 inherent bonus to a randomly determined statistic of the PC.
Q: Is the inherent bonus granted by the Stigma of the Serpent AR entry independent to the form that the PC is in? For example if he polymorphs into an orc how does the inherent bonus apply?
A: The bonus is applied to the PC's base form. Thus if a human PC with a Strength of 10 gained the +1 bonus to Strength, his score would now be 11. However, if the same PC polymorphed into an orc his Strength would be 17 [that of a standard orc] and not 18. Of course in this situation the PC keeps his normal Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores and the inherent bonus would still apply if it was originally applied against one of those stats.

If my familiar is polymorphed into a form which can draw and wield Malthindor, would my highest spell level determine the sword's abilities?
The sword would become masterwork as your familiar is not an arcane
caster.
What if the familiar were imbued with spells (as per the T&B spell)?
First off.. the duration of the spell is too short for the sword to
attune to your familiar. Even if it was long enough, the spell does
not make you a true arcane spellcaster... just able to cast a few
spells.
Can the sword be drawn by me, activating an ability, then handed to someone else (the familiar or other) and preserve the ability I activated, in their hands?
No. The sword must attune to function. Otherwise it is a masterwork
sword.

This article contains major spoilers for the series To Serve the Greater Good. If you do not bear and of the marks or curses from this series then do not read further.
Clarifications from the Circle
If you have the Mark of Avernus from COR2-07 "Ashes of Innocence" only and have played or judged COR3-08 "A Man with Nothing" then the Mark of Avernus goes away.
If you have played COR3-08 "A Man with Nothing", then only the character that played that event can have any of the curses, and none of your other characters can gain them in the future
The following applies to anybody who bears any of the curses from this series (Mark of Avernus, Mark of Cania, Mark of Stygia, Curse of Nessus), and is 6th level or higher. If you are under 6th level then the below does not apply until you reach 6th level. The changes listed below become effective on June 21st.
Theron's Visit
The chill spring air rolls in through your window as clouds once again cover the moon above shrouding your room in darkness. Finally sleep comes but the sweet slumber you were expecting is not yours this night. A shadowy shape creeps from the deep shadows in the corner of your room. "Wake up vessel. Wake up I said NOW!!!"
With a jolt you sit up and see yourself sitting on a chair next to your bed. The figure appears identical in every way except the curses that cover your body are not on his.
"I am done with you. You have served your purpose in hiding me and now it is time to take me home.", as you watch the image of yourself shifts until you are staring at Theron. "Oh yes. The symbols on you not only represent my kind but they represent me. The protections I have granted you these past months have been revoked. You will gather your friends and take me back to Perdition. That old foolish priest you betrayed is in Falsridge and can guide you there. Do not bother fighting. In the end you will succumb or die. Either way I am happy. Now wake up and feel my sweet kiss for the last time."
With a jolt you sit up out of bed. The room is empty as sounds of the street cleaners waft in through the window. Was it a dream? As if to answer it you feel a tingle on your cheek as if somebody was close to you breathing on your face. Then the curses on your arm start burning with a fire you have not felt since they first blessed you with their resistance to heat. Then, as quickly as it started, it stops and the room plunges into cold as the wind fills your room with its chilled air.
"Give me what I want and I will go away" the voice says once more and then the room is silent once again.
Theron has revoked his blessing and thus the curses (marks) from this series have changed in their effects. The following text replaces the following curses: Mark of Avernus, Mark of Cania, Mark of Stygia, Curse of Nessus. Cross any of the previous off the adventure record it appears on and use the following instead. Any action in an adventure that removes one of the previously named curses will also remove the "Touched by Theron" curse below.
Touched by Theron: This character has been the unknowing bearer of the devil Theron for months. He has decided to revoke the protection he granted his vessel (the character) and the following now apply. These runes appear as tattoos on the left arm and chest of the person cursed with them. The runes are in infernal and spell out the true names of 101 devils (or 202/303 depending on Mark). The runes crawl over the afflicted person's skin forming new names constantly. The character is now susceptible to fire and cold and takes an extra point of damage per die vs. these types of energy. The character also does not heal naturally and his ending hit point total from an adventure are his starting hit points for the next one. The character is also resistant to magical healing of any type unless the caster can make a caster level check equal to your characters level plus eleven. This resistance cannot be bypassed by any other means nor suppressed by the curse bearer. Theron has restored the characters natural skin color and while the character no longer suffers negative social interaction effects, he still has the runes crawling over his skin that causes strange looks unless covered. Theron talks to the character constantly which sounds like a constant buzzing or tickling in the back of the characters head. This distraction, causes the character to take a -4 penalty on initiative as well as a -6 penalty on all Spot and Listen checks.

The text for Terdella's favor needs further clarification. The item that she will search out and find for you must meet all of the following criteria:
- Cost 25,000 gp or less (full market value)
- Found in the DMG on any of the following charts:
- Table 7-1 thru Table 7-6
- Table 7-9 thru Table 7-15
- Table 7-17 thru Table 7-28
- If a weapon, armor, or shield than it may contain a single +1 or +2 enhancement from Tables 7-5, Table 7-6, Table 7-14, or Table 7-15 (as applicable to item enhanced)
- If a scroll it may only contain a single spell
- No cursed or intelligent items
If you have already purchased an item that does not meet the above requirements using this favor than you must correct it on your next adventure record. You may reuse the favor in this circumstance to make a legal choice.

Failed Save vs. Bestow Confusion
At Winter Fantasy 2004 the Living Greyhawk campaign was pleased to
present the premiere of COR4-3 Tropical Intrigue. Little did we know
that it had failed its save vs. bestow confusion earlier that week.
An errata sheet was quickly done up to correct two errors and in
doing so the adventure once again failed its save and another error
crept in. These errors are being fixed for the version that will be
available on the RPGA ordering system but the following change
effects all that played this event at Winter Fantasy.
The Lesser Couatl Cloak had its price incorrectly listed on the
Adventure Record and then listed incorrectly again in the errata
sheet used onsite at Winter Fantasy. The correct price for this item
is 22,500 gp.
If you paid the incorrect price on the Adventure Record (27,000 gp)
then you will be refunded the difference of 4,500 gp on your next
Adventure Record.
If you paid the incorrect price listed in the onsite errata (2,250
gp) then you must pay the additional cost (20,250 gp) in order to
keep the item. If not then it is removed immediately and you are
returned the 2,250 gp you paid for it.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused but even the best
items and staff members still fail their saving throws on a natural
one.
